Color Run

I have wanted to shoot one of these since they started happening last year and today Lynchburg stepped up. The sun was out, the trail was clear and the colors did fly! I realized I should have brought a bag for my camera just as the countdown started 10.. 9.. 8.. Too late. Ended up [...]

Soccer Tradition

I happened across some guys warming up for a soccer game and decided to ask what league they played in. I learned that a group of workers at La Carreta, a local Mexican food chain, have gotten together for a mini soccer tournament on Easter and Memorial Day for the last 26 years. Four teams [...]

Faces in the Crowd

Liberty University turned around their worst start to a basketball season ever (0-8) and managed to earn a spot in the NCAA tournament. As they took the court in Ohio, I photographed the watch party at the LU basketball arena, watching students react to the roller coaster of a game that ended with a missed [...]

Almost Game Time

The new Liberty University baseball stadium is almost finished; the first game is tomorrow even though there is still work to be done. I photographed a practice yesterday and found myself divided between shooting action and features. They did a bit of work sliding and fielding to get used to the new artificial turf.

Swim Toward the Light

Swimming pools are notoriously poorly lit. I got a lot of junk but I think a few came out alright.

Daytime Basketball

The light in E.C. Glass High School’s gym during this rare daytime game was heavenly.

Eye on the Ball

Fun shot from last week, I liked how this one lined up. Students at Paul Munro Elementary school practice volleyball skills during their gym class.

Country Motocross

William “Duck” Lloyd is a rising star in the quad motocross world. I didn’t know this sport existed before I met him but I learned a lot about it in a short time, just as Duck has since entering the sport several years ago. More experienced riders have told Duck he hasn’t yet “put in [...]

Low Key

As part of my personal goal to get better at portraits, I wanted shoot this round of high school athletes of the year in black and white, using low-key lighting. Sam and Jill got on board and I think the series was very successful. It was good to really experiment with the subtleties of lighting, [...]

Super Dunk

The Liberty University SOAR Dunk Team performed during the Flames game at halftime (Feb 14th). I think I want to join.
